Medical Reserve Corps

The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a national network of more than 300,000 volunteers, organized locally to improve the health and safety of their communities. The national Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) was formed after Sept. 11, 2001, to provide citizens with an organized way to serve their communities during disasters.

Founded in 2014, CHMRC started out exclusively as an MRC. Our journey began with the mission to assist and support communities during various challenges, especially during COVID-19. We offer resources and expertise to support communities during public health emergencies and beyond. We stand ready to provide supplies and coordinate logistics for field clinics and disaster response sites.

Our MRC’s mission is to create a resilient and prepared community where dedicated volunteers, in collaboration with public health and emergency response partners, ensure the health and well-being of all residents during emergencies and times of need.

We have resources and expertise ready to support communities nationwide in the event of a public health emergency and beyond. Our work and support offerings include:

  • Emergency shelter operations

  • Mobile satellite communication systems

  • Emergency preparedness and response trainings

  • Support services to disaster call centers, reception, and evacuation centers

  • First aid and medical support during large public gatherings

  • Community education and outreach

  • Response planning with logistical and administrative support

The services offered by CHMRC are beneficial and essential to the individuals they serve, and it feels good to be part of such an effort.
