Clarkston Resource & Wellness Hub

Welcome to the Clarkston Resource & Wellness Hub, an integral initiative of the Clarkston Health Equity Coalition (CHEC). As a collaborative network, we unite resources and service providers to tackle health equity challenges faced by the diverse Clarkston community. Our goal is to serve as a comprehensive one-stop access point, addressing critical areas such as:

  • Health Care Access and Quality

  • Preventive Care Access

  • Transportation

  • Interpretation

  • Community Health Workers

  • Mental Health Care Access and Quality

  • Food Security

  • Education Access and Quality

Nestled within the one-square-mile town of Clarkston in DeKalb County, often referred to as the "Ellis Island of the South," our community is rich in diversity. More than half of the population hails from outside the United States, speaking a staggering 60 languages within our compact city limits.

Coalition Origin and Purpose

The Clarkston Health Equity Coalition (CHEC) traces its roots back to June 2021 when it initially formed as the Clarkston Vaccine and Health Access Coalition. Originating from a collective effort among community organizations to boost Covid-19 vaccine uptake, the Coalition evolved beyond the pandemic's scope. Comprising multi-sector organizations, community members, and leaders, CHEC is committed to enhancing community health and equity outcomes through resource mobilization, collective action, and collaborative initiatives.

Partnership with CHMRC

Since June 2023, CHMRC has played a pivotal role as a grantor and collaborative partner, offering guidance in strategic planning, coalition building, partnership facilitation, health hub implementation, and sustainability planning. This collaboration aims to formalize activities and scale existing services, supporting CHEC's mission to foster lasting improvements in community health.

Resource & Wellness Hub

A cornerstone of our efforts is the establishment of a Resource & Wellness Hub at the EasterSeal’s North Georgia location. This hub serves as a centralized space, co-locating and integrating a network of health and social resources. Focused on overcoming transportation barriers and ensuring language and cultural responsiveness, the hub maximizes resources and access for the Clarkston community. Together, we are shaping a resilient community that values inclusivity, accessibility, and the well-being of every individual.
